Issan Explorer – 3 days / 2 nights
Thailand is blessed with many sites of historical importance, of which only a few are frequented by visiting tourists. Some of the best places are free of crowds and located just a few hours from Bangkok. We head east into an area called Issan on this tour.
It is an area where buffallo can still be seen carrying carts along the street, where families will welcome you into their home and the landscape is devoted to faming, creating speactular sceneries at every turn.
From cities such as Korat, we discover the wonders of the Khmer Empire at Prasat Hin Phimai. Nowadays it covers a small site, but in the era of the Khmer Empire, it was an important principality directly connected through the ancient Dharmasala route to the legendary Angkor in Cambodia. From here we continue east as far as Ubon Ratchathani where the mighty Mekong River flows through the heart of the city.
Trip Schedule
Day 1 Bangkok – Nakhon Ratchasima
From Bangkok we travel into Khao Yai National Park and continue east to the city of Korat.
Day 2 Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) – Ubon Ratchathani
Discover the wonders of the Khmer Empire as we travel close to the Cambodian border. This area is also home to beautiful open landscapes.
Day 3 Ubon Ratchathani – Departure
Cruise along the Mekong River in Ubon Ratchathani before entering Pha Taem National Park to discover this ancient region. We then return to Ubon Ratchathani for onward departures.
